I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to transmit
copies of correspondence with the Peninsular and Oriental
Steam Navigation Company and His Majesty's Treasury
regarding proposed shipments of gold from Hong Kong to
Holland, and to request that Mr. Secretary Bonar Law
would be so good as to cause the Hong Kong Governsent to
be informed that such a shipment, though consigned to the
Netherlands Oversea Trust, should not be permitted unless the
Banks can show proof of actual acceptance of the consignment
